A comfortable lodge with a range of Budget Hotel and Bunkhouse style rooms (twin rooms, double rooms and quad rooms) with ensuite and shared facility options, a large common area with a pool table, wood fire and commercial-sized kitchen for self catering.
Set on large grounds with a swimming pool, BBQ area and plenty of room for your 4x4’s, mountain bikes, trail bikes, fishing boats and even horses (by arrangement, but we have pens), it’s the best budget option for group accommodation in Merrijig.
Chris Dunlop built the lodge in 1982, originally for his High Country Horse Trekking business. We like to think that his vision was endorsed by the crew of ‘The Man from Snowy River’ who used it as their operational base for filming of the movie. It’s perfect for clubs, school groups, families and individuals alike.
Start of the Rail Trail, Mansfield
We’d love to help point you in the right direction for walking trails, horse trekking, mountain bike or rail trail shuttles, vineyard, distillery and brewery tours. Or you can leave the driving to us and one of our experienced crew can host you and your group in one of our 4x4 mini coaches (10 or 20 seaters) to explore and visit anything from the famous Craigs Hut, the Kelly Gang Sites, the King Valley wineries or your own custom combination of food, wine, history and/or adventure.
Things that you need to know
This is the fine print and other useful information. 1/ Room bookings are made through the ‘Book a room’ buttons on this site, the rooms available are what are shown at the time of booking. 2/ If you enquire about booking the whole Lodge, it generates an email, we will reply within a day. 3/ Fires outside - the people in this photo are standing by a fire pit, we can only have fires on the property when conditions allow, this must be determined by us. 3/ The kitchen is well stocked with pots, plates and utensils, you must clean up after yourself, there will be a cleaning fee if you don’t. 4/ The continental breakfast varies according to what is available 5/ Cancelations, we require a minimum of 48 hours notice. There will be no refunds for no-shows. 6/ The nearest shops for all supplies are in Mansfield, the Hunt club does meals but isn’t always open, the Merrijig Motor Inn sells a few essentials such as cereals, beer and wine. They also do meals. 7/ We have a large walk in fridge, you can leave things there but we take no responsibility for its security. 8/ We have plenty of space for parking your toys but we take no ultimate responsibility for it’s security. 9/ No bikes or live stock in your rooms. 10/ Dogs usually aren’t welcome as we are on a working property with horses - by all means ask about yours if it’s special.
